On the first page there's a footnote citing a text with the publisher and year. I've read more than a dozen of RAW's books, and I can't recall ever seeing such a complete reference to a citation. Sure, he's omitted the page number, but even so!
I am reassured by a quick flip through that it appears it be the only one, and that there is no bibliography.
No doubt reading further will alert me to reasons why this struck me so.

I've been interested in Stirner for some time. I do so love that wacky German existentialism.
As for Wilson, well, I do find it striking how he can write a book about quantum physics without making a lot more scientific references. I think he does make a few more inline references throughout the text however.
Do you have anything you'd recommend by Stirner in particular, for someone completely unfamiliar with his works?
I'm not very far into the book, but I wouldn't be surprised if "quantum" found its way into the title and philosophy of the book because it's a nifty buzzword. Physics is far from my specialty, but I would be very surprised if references held up.
Doesn't mean that it's not an interesting and useful book, of course.

Well, Stirner is really only known for one book (Der Einzige und sein Eigentum, the Ego and Its Own) so that would be my suggestion.
Mind you, Stirner was an individualist anarchist type -- his ideas pretty much led directly to free market anarchism and much of modern libertarianism (though I think he would prefer to think of himself as a libertine).
Stirner's egoist philosophy is one of the strongest wedges in the libertarian-esque movements since it's inception, since many prefer to argue this philosophy based on natural law/ human rights. RAW wrote a short article (I believe it was called Natural Law or Don't Put a Rubber on your Willy) that specifically attacked the natural law justifications among the libertarian movement.
I've read Natural Law, but it was a while ago. (Actually, it features in an early post on this blog.)
Thanks, I've added the Stirner title to my list. It sounds like something I'll certainly enjoy reading.
