Quantum Psychology was one of the books my husband brought over from England when he immigrated, but it's one of the few I haven't read yet, nor has he, apparently.

A few people on the Facebook page have already indicated in the positive, but have you found yours?

Game Rules: (from exercise two)

A. I hauled the garbage out this morning.
D. This table top measures two feet by four feet.
E. Space becomes curved in the vicinity of heavy masses, such as stars.
F. Space does not become curved at all; light simply bends in the vicinity of heavy masses, such as stars.
H. The umpire's decision is binding.
J. In the act of conception, the male and female each contribute 23 chromosomes.
G. Defendants are innocent until the jury pronounces them guilty.

Out of Bounds:

B. God appeared to me this morning.
C. I saw a UFO this morning.
I. History is the march of God through the world.
K. The devil made me do it.
L. My unconscious made me do it.
M. Conditioned reflexes made me do it.
N. A church is the house of God.
O. Anybody who criticizes the government is a traitor.
P. Abraham Lincoln served as President between 1960 and 1968.

The "it" in "It is now raining out" would be some space within the immediately apprehensible world of the speaker.

The lightening flash suddenly.

Perhaps better phrased as:
"I observed an unexpected flash of lightening."

I have an uncontrollable temper.

"I am disinclined to accept responsibility for my emotions and prefer to place the blame for my temper on some ambiguous outside force."

Judgmental? Who, me?

1. I live in a city (Toronto). Nothing of what I see would have existed where it is. Even the trees were planted to accommodated the surrounding houses. It's winter, so there isn't even any grass. The bushes are dead but dreaming.

2. Again, city. I can see three stars and two airplanes.

3. At the moment meteors reminder me of a short story I'm working on where they can (but rarely) carry gods to Earth. Not terribly scientific, but rather romantic for this atheist.

4. I imagine it would. I haven't had a landlord for some years, but I can easily see a "reality" show of griping tenets vs bemoaning landlords.

Like that Wife Swap show I once caught at the gym, force them to deal with each other's problems, and realize what it means to be a responsible property owner vs agreeing to live in and care for a home which you have no long term vested interest in.

5. I find it hilarious that RAW recommends avoiding paranoid conspiracies, but I don't really have any idea why there are so many cop shows.

I haven't had cable for many years, so what TV I catch tends to be in snippets at the gym, but there seem to be at least three versions of CSI - all of which feature the same sort of wooden acting, which is fine, since none of the characters have personalities. It's really bizarre.

Here is a picture of a small rock I found on the Internet:

http://www.plutonica.net/images/bookclub/small-rock.jpg

It does indeed look rather small, and greyish, but kind of shiny. It looks like it would have a rough texture.

The blue bit has been identified as benonite, and this guy was really, really excited about it. Lots of pics of location and how it was acquired.

Does someone else want a go, or shall I go on to describe all about the room (site)?

I feel behind. I haven't read any Stirner or Husserl, and now I haven't read any Kafka. As if I needed more excuses to buy books! In any case, my reading of it seems out of context, and that vexes me. Nonetheless, here I go!

This parable speaks to me something of experience and knowledge, or the futility of expectation.

The man is waiting to pass through the door of the Law, the Law that's specific to the individual in question, outside of which a guard is posted, like a psychic censor. The guard accepts the bribes, the tricks we try to circumvent our personal barriers, but this guard never gives in, "so you will not abandon hope entirely".

At the man's last moment, the door is slammed in his face. Death. "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."

Yet, where the man failed to enter, Simon Moon passed.

Thoughts?

Meaningful:

Meaningless:
B. God appeared to me this morning.
C. I saw a UFO this morning.
G. Defendants are innocent until the jury pronounces them guilty.

NB: For me, meaningless here means (ha!) "meaningless without further context". "God appeared to me this morning" may convey more information if I could be reasonably certain that my (atheistic) understanding of "god as metaphor for x" was in accord with the speaker's intent.

PS: Feel free to start topics on your own if you're ahead, I'll contribute when I catch up. I work an office 9-5, then hit the gym for two hours after work most nights, so I get home late. :)

These exercises are also difficult to do in an online setting. Anyone have their mate handy for participation?

Debating a contentious issue should be the most straightforward of the lot. Any suggestions?

As to the objects, shall we collect images, or just work with the words themselves?

There are (of course) twenty-three chapters, which works out to about one a day. Does that seem like a reasonable pace for everyone?

I don't know that we will need a topic for each chapter, but we might, or that we'll need only one topic for a chapter. We may find we need more.

Feel free to start topics on whatever interests you, exercises, points he makes, or other references you find valuable or relevant to the topic at hand.

On the first page there's a footnote citing a text with the publisher and year. I've read more than a dozen of RAW's books, and I can't recall ever seeing such a complete reference to a citation. Sure, he's omitted the page number, but even so!

I am reassured by a quick flip through that it appears it be the only one, and that there is no bibliography.

No doubt reading further will alert me to reasons why this struck me so.
