The Microsoft documentation does list the “Mail enabled security” option under the “Writeback settings in Group Properties”.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/enterprise-users/groups-write-back-portal#writeback-settings-in-group-properties
When you select an Azure AD Group in the Azure Active Directory blade, select Properties, and look at the “Group writeback state” you will see the four selections (No writeback, Security, Mail enabled security, Distribution) that match the link above.
Hope that helps.

You’ve created a mail-enabled security group in Azure Active Directory “M365 – MESG01”.

Writing back this group type – mail-enabled security group – isn’t mentioned anywhere in the documentation;

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/enterprise-users/groups-write-back-portal

[you can write a Microsoft 365 group as a mail-enabled security group, but that’s different, of course]

Can you elaborate?
