We removed retention policy (had group mbox excepted) for more than 48h ago and as per above checks MFA run smoothly. Furthermore, deleted emails moved to DiscoveryHolds that has reached hard limit also of 100GB. Have created Content searches via purview targeting the specific folder DiscoveryHolds, so we can empty it, but we see that apart deleting only 10 emails per call, it actually moves them to another directory Purges. Thus total size remains at 100GB. We then moved to delete with a new content search items from the Purges folder, but even though we see completion status, number of items/size does not change, thus no effect. Via MFCMAPI Group mailboxes are not visible.

I meant the Workcycle property of the get-mailboxServer, not the MFA work cycle process in general.
Thanks for the Ingo’s article link. That’s very useful indeed.

Workcycles are still used in Exchange 2019, AFAIK. This is a good article about Get-ExchangeDiagnosticInfo: https://ingogegenwarth.wordpress.com/2017/03/17/diagnosticinfo-deep-dive/

I guess Work cycle applies to Exchange 2013 or older.
As written by Tony in this article, for Exchange 2016 and 2019 the Get-ExchangeDiagnosticInfo should be used instead.

There are many workcycle properties in Exchange Server. Did you check the documentation? Look at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/exchange/set-mailboxserver?view=exchange-ps&WT.mc_id=M365-MVP-9501#example-4

Maybe the items in the junk mail folder have explicit tags assigned to them? Did you check the retention dates with MFCMAPI?

I have a 30 day RPT/policy associated. I show ELC as running, but I don’t see anything deleting. Not sure where to go from there. Its also a low priority ticket with no impact, but curious if you have any insight on troubleshooting.
